TECHNICAL LAYOUT AND STRUCTURE OF THE RIDE:

Pre-ride inspection date is 23 January 2010.

Before the ride, horses will be inspected by a veterinarian to ensure that they are fit to perform in the ride. Additionally, riders will be given a map of the course by the organizer to shows the route, the places for compulsory halts, and any natural obstacles (such as ditches, sandy area).

The ride will divide into five loops or legs or phase. After each phase, horses are stopped for a veterinary inspection (called a "Vet Gate"), where they will be checked for soundness and dehydration, with their pulse and respiration taken. To continue the ride, the horse must pass the examination, including reducing its heart rate below that will be specified for the event, typically 64 bpm. The riders' time keeps running until their horses reach the required target, so it is important that the horses recover as soon as possible. Any horse unfit to continue (due to lameness or excessive fatigue, for example) will be eliminated by the veterinarian. After the veterinary inspection, the horse will held for an additional time (usually between 30-40 minutes), at which time it will offer feed and water.

Under the rules of the FEI, the first horse cross the line and pass the vet check as "fit to continue" is the winner, after calculated its whole time spend in loops. This will do by the Time and Result System which is provided by Intl. Endurance Equestrian Events.
